Beautiful-the veins in the leaf, the colors and the spots are very interesting. I think that I like the first one best.

I think this is a pretty spectacular photo of a rather sick looking leaf, or is it just in transition in the autumn, and loosing its original bloom like the rest of us? I would probably submit this one.

It's pretty, but looks like something that appears on a calendar. In other words, not as original nor striking as some of your other shots.

This one is fabulous. It just draws you in - I can't quit looking at it. In fact I may print it out and try to paint it. I won't be successful, if my previous attempts at painting are any indication, but I may try anyway. There's no question that it's a leaf, but it seems to have so many things going on - like it has a little world all its own.

If I were a judge at the North 40, I would probably pick the second, the licen encrusted concrete.

Again, this one grabs me. I like the color, the light, the detail in the "spinal system" of the leaf.

The first time I looked at this picture it reminded me of the change which is about to begin. I could envision all the leaves turning brillant colors right before they fall from the trees. It looks as though there is a water (tear) drop in the upper left corner which indicates sadness as the summer fades and the landscape prepares itself for the winter ahead.

Beautiful color but I still like the composition of the first leaf picture best. In fact the first leaf picture is by far my favorite of them all.

My fav, edging out the previous one of leaf on lichen concrete. But the open space here in bottom right corner lifts this one above the other, in my opinion. But I do that that other, too. Nice job all around, Gene.---John

These are hard to choose among. I prefer this ever so slightly to the leaf on lichen which I prefer ever so slightly to the leaves on concrete. Maybe it's the title. Or maybe I'm too low today to appreciate the somberness of the first two.

Gene, I am not too good with being wordy or saying anything "intelligent"; however, again, I like the close up version. It doesn't looked "staged" as far as leaves sitting on the rock or concrete. You are close enough to see details; however, the end of the leave stem brings it to reality and shows the size. Coloring is awesome since it is soft in the back behind the base of the leave with the corner of the other leave near by. Interesting combination of colors for deterioation on the leave with yellow, browns... That's my input. Good luck! Tracy

Yeah, I think I like this one the best. Withdrawing the troops might be another way to describe it, although I'm not sure people who don't understand that this is why leaves turn brown would get it.

YES! Beautiful! I love this shot. The composition is gorgeous, I love all the green, and I like seeing the detail in the veins of the leaf. This is my favorite leaf pic by far.

I like this leaf picture best, but it's a close call between this and the one the previous. I really like the color contrasts and the detail of the closeup.

Great nature shot, but it is almost too veiny. I would like a bug or something -- or a splash of a red color? Really an incredible shot, I'm just being very nit-picky. JSK

That's a nice one. but I think you had photos combining light and water with leaves once. When the little drops of water reflect the shining light - those ones are better.

Nice lighting on this one. I think it is a stronger image with the partial leaf on the lower right cropped out (still keeping the soft green background in that corner, just not the other leaf, making it more of a sqaure image). In my opinion, the other leaf competes for attention without adding to the overall composition.

Love the colors. The texture is interesting and the lines of the picture are good.
